Gold Maple Leaf coins

The Royal Canadian Mint Gold Maple Leaf is the most traded bullion coin in Canada, and the one we see most often across the desk. Struck in .9999 fine gold since 1982 (.999 for the first three years), it needs no assay certificate and no packaging to trade at a tight premium — the coin itself is the proof.

How we verify it

  • Weight to 0.01 g on a calibrated scale, checked against the Mint's published tolerance
  • Diameter and thickness with digital callipers — a plated fake almost always fails one of them
  • Ultrasound or conductivity testing through the coin, which reads the core rather than the surface
  • Micro-engraved privy mark examined under magnification on 2013 and newer coins

Good to know

  • Fractional Maples carry a higher premium per ounce than 1 oz coins, both when we sell and when we buy.
  • Do not clean or polish a Maple Leaf. Cleaning removes metal and can make verification slower.

Selling Gold Maple Leaf to us

Bring the coins as they are — in tubes, in flips, loose, or still in a Mint assay card. Maples scratch easily and the marks do not reduce what we pay, because we are buying the gold, not the finish. Every coin is weighed and verified while you watch, and the payout is the posted buy price per ounce.

Buying Gold Maple Leaf from us
